Business and Leisure
About an hour or so later we were back from the crime scene. Ducky and Palmer were autopsying the body in autopsy. Jethro was with McGee and Abby in Abby’s lab. Ziva was on the phone with her one of her contacts as Tony worked on a lead. As for me; I was at lunch with Jenny.
We had just gotten our salads. Jenny was eating a house salad with balsamic dressing as I ate my Cesar salad.
“So what happened between you and Jethro after I left earlier?”
“Nothing happened between Jethro and me.”
“Bull; I saw the look between the two of you.”
“Nothing happen Jay.”
“I think that after all this time as sisters I know when something is going on with you. What happened between you and Jethro?” I tried for the second time.
Jenny didn’t answer, but the glint of amusement in her eyes and the smile on her face said it all.
“You didn’t?”
“We did, but it was short-lived.”
“You pulled away.”
“I didn’t pull away.”
“Jethro?” I questioned taking a bite of my salad.
“He got the call about the case you are working on.”
“And that’s it; one phone call and you let him walk out.”
“You honestly think that after breaking up with Jethro fourteen years ago that I was going to let him walk out of my office.” Jenny said as she took a bite of her salad.
“So you guys kissed again.”
“Jay, you know I don’t kiss and tell.”
“You did, so where does that leave the two of you?” I asked.
“Jethro and I are having dinner together later.”
“Which means he is going to bring steak au poivre to you instead of you guys going out.”
“What’s so bad about Jethro bringing dinner to me in my office?”
“You guys can’t exactly have dessert at work.”
“I know that Jay, besides it may not even go that far.”
“Dear God Jen, are you that naïve.”
My sister didn’t say a word, instead she stared at me.
“This is Jethro we are talking about here, Jen. When the two of you get together it verges on R.”
“And your love life isn’t?”
“I never said that it wasn’t. I’m the one that is supposed to have the love life that you and Jethro have.”
“So what are you doing tonight?”
“Going out to dinner and to the movies with Ethan.” I answered.
A few hours later Jethro had sent the entire team home for the night. Jethro brought Jenny dinner just as he had promised. As for me; I was preoccupied with a certain Marine of my own. Needless to say Ethan and I never made it to the restaurant or the movie. Jethro brought Jenny home after they had finished dinner; apparently it was time for dessert.
Ethan and I were in the living room on the couch. We were entangled in each other with a bed sheet wrapped around us. The lights were turned down low. As Ethan kissed my neck, I had let out a giggle right as Jenny and Jethro walked past. Without any warning Jethro came over and pulled Ethan off of me. My sister and I had a thing for men in uniforms.
“Jethro!!!!” I said as I quickly wrapped the sheet around me.
Jethro grabbed Ethan’s clothes and brought him to the door.
“What the hell was that; Jethro?” I asked.
“Jaylyn.”
“No Jen; I am not going to back off. Jethro just kicked my boyfriend out.”
“You are too young to be that involved with a Marine.” Jethro said.
“Too young, that’s the best you can do.” I said as I stormed off to my room.
“She isn’t a child Jethro.”
“I know that.”
“So are you just going to stand there or are we going pick up where we left off earlier?”
Jethro pulled Jenny into his arms and kissed her. Within minutes Jethro and Jenny moved to Jenny’s bedroom. Thankfully Jethro didn’t scare Ethan off. Ethan had stuck around for a few minutes. Ethan decided to climb the fire escape and into my bedroom to me. In an hour Jenny was asleep in Jethro’s arms just as I was asleep in Ethan’s arms.
The Shepard women were happy for the first time in years. Neither one of us wanted anything to change. Both Jenny and I had been completely in the moment as we made love to our respective man. The next day Jenny and I had that glow about us. I knew that it was only a matter of time before Tony started prying.
While at work neither Jethro, Jenny nor myself could focus on the tasks before us. Jenny had meetings all day as well as video conference in MTAC with one of NCIS’s Agents Afloat. Jethro kept thinking of Jenny and when they would be able to step away for a moment to themselves. As for me I was resisting the urge to text Ethan. But my thoughts of Ethan were instantly crushed when Tony brought me back to reality after Jethro had left to get yet another cup of coffee and a Caf-Pow for Abby.
“So what has you glowing Jaylyn?” Tony asked.
“Tony.” Ziva reprimanded.
“Sorry Tony; I don’t kiss and tell.”
“It’s a guy isn’t it?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
At that moment I knew that I had to give into temptation. I got up from my desk and called Ethan. I was hoping that he wasn’t too busy. As the phone rang I knew that I had completely fallen for Ethan just as Jenny had fallen for Jethro once again. It was meant to be for us Shepard women.
